Learn to apply automotive standards in practice

The strength of the automotive sector lies in standardised quality and effective collaboration within the supply chain. By applying proven methodologies and international standards, processes are controlled, risks are minimised, and consistent product quality is achieved for customers worldwide.

Symbol’s training courses help professionals to apply automotive standards practically and effectively. With practical knowledge and extensive experience, Symbol has been supporting OEMs and suppliers for more than 20 years in quality improvement, risk management, and successfully meeting international requirements and audits.

IATF 16949 quality management

Quality systems are essential within the automotive industry. IATF 16949 is the international standard for quality management. This standard helps organisations control processes, develop suppliers, and consistently meet the high requirements of OEMs.

Automotive Core Tools

Core Tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, and SPC support organisations in the automotive and high-tech sectors in controlling product and process quality. By applying these methodologies correctly, risks are identified early and structurally minimised throughout the entire product life cycle.

Practical application

Applying automotive standards leads to higher product quality, lower failure costs, and better collaboration in the supply chain. Organisations become more reliable, meet customer requirements, and are better prepared for audits and continuous improvement projects. Other sectors, including semicon and high-tech, are increasingly adopting these automotive techniques.

IATF 16949 is the international quality standard for the automotive industry. This standard helps organisations standardise processes, manage risks, and meet the high requirements of car manufacturers and suppliers. IATF 16949 is a mandatory certification for automotive suppliers.

The right training depends on your role and experience. It also depends on the organisation’s objectives. Quality staff often take the IATF 16949 and Core Tools training or the IATF 16949 Auditor training. Are you new to the automotive industry? Then the Working In The Automotive Industry course is the best choice. Core Tools training courses are often taken in-company. In particular, FMEA training and 8D Problem Solving training are frequently delivered in-company.

Core Tools are essential methodologies applied in all automotive companies (OEMs and Tiers). The Core Tools are APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Control Plan, MSA (Measurement System Analysis), and SPC (Statistical Process Control). The Automotive Core Tools were established by the AIAG and have been adopted by the VDA.

An in-company FMEA training course is taken as a team. During the training, we focus on specific products and processes within your organisation. The Design FMEA addresses the functions and risks in the development of a new product or system. The Process FMEA addresses the risks that can occur in the process. In the same training, we also cover the Control Plan.

An in-company 8D training course focuses on current problems within your organisation. Teams learn to analyse causes in a structured way and implement sustainable solutions. This leads to faster problem-solving, fewer recurring errors, and a stronger quality culture within teams.
