CSK: 74 employees attend Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt training course

To create a culture of continuous improvement, dairy producer CSK previously trained eight Lean Six Sigma Green Belts and a Master Black Belt. Now it was 74 employees’ turn to attend Yellow Belt training. By training employees, CSK ensures that employees have a continuous focus on what can be improved. At the same time, it ensures that employees can actually make improvements by teaching them the right tools.

A continuous improvement culture is indispensable for successful change. And sustainable success only succeeds when everyone participates. Want to spar with us to see what your (customized) options are? Then contact us at 053 – 20 30 240 or using the form below.

This year between May and November, 74 CSK Yellow Belt employees were trained. This training covered the basic concepts of lean: what are wastes? how do I recognize them? How can I solve them? How do I make a process lean? They also learned ways to solve problems. For example, using graphs, fishbone method, 5x why method.

In addition to theory, many exercises were done. A round was walked through the kitchen at Van der Valk to identify waste in the kitchen. After all the feedback, they now work much more efficiently! Furthermore, a SMED game was done to change the tires of a lunar lander as quickly as possible, just like Formula 1. One team looked for it in collaboration, another team in out-of-the-box constructions, the fastest team deployed a completely new lunar lander!

The most popular exercise was the airplane game to experience working with and without lean. Each team was allowed to mimic the manufacture of an aircraft several times. The goal was to get 15 planes to the customer within 15 minutes. After each round, the team was able to make improvements to work even more efficiently.

Conclusion training

Participants indicated that the training was helpful. It helps them in improving the work. There is more understanding of each other and more pleasant cooperation now. A few still find it difficult to apply Lean in their own work. But now there are several experienced Green and Yellow Belts present within CSK who can guide these individuals.
