Smit’s Construction Company: a step-by-step implementation of Lean
Gijsbert-Jan Heek, manager of Smit’s Bouwbedrijf, came in contact with Symbol Bouw at his previous employer. He is very enthusiastic about the practical approach and customization with which Symbol Construction is introducing the Lean way of working step by step.
Practice-oriented approach
“Symbol Construction takes a very focused approach. They don’t give a general Lean course in which all the tools are explained in detail. You get a short piece of theory and then you go straight to practice. In the process you get good guidance. Our coach from Symbol Bouw literally sat down with the employees to help them master Lean working.”
Quick results
When Gijsbert-Jan joined Smit’s Bouwbedrijf, it was a logical choice for him to introduce Symbol Bouw there as well. “Hopefully soon we can start working together to take working with Lean to the next level. I would like to start with the basic tools and work on that basis. That will get you results very quickly. And that motivates you to go a step further each time. My experience is that this way of working works much better than if you want to do everything at once.”
